Bangkok will implement a unified 45-baht fare cap across all electric train lines from January 1, 2027, replacing the current 17–65 baht range. The government will subsidize fares exceeding the cap through the Pao Tang app or payment cards within three working days. This affects commuter costs and operating economics for rail operators, including the planned consolidation of Green and Gold Line management under MRTA, while supporting digital payment infrastructure (EMV contactless, credit/debit cards, Mangmoom).
