Thailand's Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) has adjusted water management plans for the Chao Phraya River basin ahead of expected heavy rainfall on 26–27 September. The agency will reduce discharge from Bhumibol and Sirikit dams to ease downstream impact, while capping actual Chao Phraya discharge at 2,300 cubic meters/second (within the permitted 2,000–2,500 range). Simultaneously, authorities are accelerating water diversion into five retention fields, which have accumulated 187 million cubic meters so far. The moves aim to protect low-lying areas and urban Bangkok from additional flooding while maintaining dam safety levels.
