The Thai Chamber of Commerce (Board of Trade) proposes elevating ethanol from a fuel additive to a strategic national fuel, with E20 (20% ethanol blend) as the primary gasoline option. The initiative aims to reduce energy import dependency, support the sugarcane and cassava industries, and maintain automotive competitiveness through three pillars: establishing E20 as the lead fuel, developing flexible ethanol blends (E-Flex) alongside hybrid vehicle manufacturing, and strengthening the entire ethanol supply chain's competitive capacity. Success depends on cost efficiency across the chain rather than continued subsidies.
