Thailand's two major automotive associations (EVAT and TAIA) have jointly reaffirmed their position on EV import tax restructuring, emphasizing the need for balanced policy that protects domestic manufacturing capacity while maintaining competitiveness. Both groups are in ongoing consultation with the government and are finalizing detailed proposals with their member companies to ensure the measures support local production investment, parts localization, and technological sovereignty rather than making Thailand merely a cheap EV consumer market.
