Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) is phasing out 8-baht non-AC buses in favor of 1,520 electric air-conditioned buses with fares of 15–25 baht. The first 500 EVs are expected to be delivered by March 2027, with subsequent batches in April and May. All non-AC red buses will be retired by June 2027.
