A series of intense rainstorms (rain bomb) has raised water levels in the Chao Phraya River basin significantly. The Chao Phraya Dam is currently releasing 1,700 cubic meters per second and may adjust further based on conditions. Farmers along both sides of the river are urged to harvest crops quickly to prepare fields for water retention. Water diversion systems for the eastern and western canal networks are operating near full capacity. Rain is expected to ease by September 27, allowing water management to return closer to normal levels. Bangkok and its periphery must monitor three factors: local rainfall, upstream water flow, and tidal surge.
