The European Commission has officially designated ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) under the Digital Services Act (DSA), subjecting them to stricter regulatory oversight. This follows the earlier classification of 25 major platforms including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. ChatGPT is further classified as a Very Large Online Search Engine (VLOSE). These designations trigger mandatory compliance with enhanced DSA requirements, which can result in significant fines for non-compliance—exemplified by AliExpress's recent major penalty.
