The Thai government has identified 767 illegal factories nationwide using a new data-driven inspection model, with 131 already shut down and 391 facing legal proceedings. Most violations (53%) are concentrated in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The Ministry of Industry now uses advanced analytics on waste management, utility usage, and production data to detect irregularities, supplemented by the "i-Auditor" system for standardized field inspections and a public reporting platform ("Jaeng Ut") for citizen participation. This shift aims to level the playing field for compliant businesses and protect public welfare.
