Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te announced a 2027 budget of NT$235.7 billion that includes a direct cash transfer of NT$10,000 (≈THB 10,400) per person as an "AI dividend." This policy aims to distribute benefits from AI-driven economic growth—which accelerated Taiwan's 2026 GDP growth to 14.15% in H1, the highest in 39 years—to all citizens, particularly SMEs and traditional sectors not directly boosted by the AI boom. The government will not restrict how recipients spend the funds, whether on education, elderly care, or local business support.
