Thailand's Energy Minister unveiled the Power Development Plan (PDP2026), allocating 10,000 MW of 24,000 MW planned clean energy capacity specifically to residential rooftop solar projects over the next 10 years. The plan transforms citizens from passive consumers into prosumers—owners of their own micro power plants—with government support for financing and guaranteed fair-price buyback by utilities. This democratizes energy production, reduces dependence on imported gas (currently 60% of electricity generation), and aligns with Thailand's Net Zero 2050 goal by targeting 50% clean energy within a decade (escalating to 65–89% by 2050). Only one week remains for public feedback before submission to the Energy Commission.
