Chiang Mai University's College of Arts, Media and Technology (CAMT) has developed a vertical takeoff/landing (V-TOL) autonomous drone equipped with AI-powered data processing to detect and monitor wildfires and PM 2.5 pollution across northern Thailand's remote forest areas. The system integrates drone imagery into a real-time dashboard that helps command centers identify hotspots and coordinate firefighting efforts with 5 km² coverage per 30-minute flight; R&D costs are 500,000 baht per unit with target production cost of 200,000 baht, and field deployment is planned for the upcoming wildfire season in collaboration with local authorities.
