Thai Chamber of Commerce survey (2025) reveals 91.8% of households carry debt averaging 794,945 baht—a 7.3% increase and the highest since 2009. Monthly repayment burden reached 21,935 baht. Rising cost of living, insufficient income, and financial pressures within families are primary drivers. Total household debt is estimated to reach 16.5–16.6 trillion baht by year-end, though debt-to-GDP ratio may decline to 84%. Debt service ability remains weak, especially among low-income households, with 67.5% having missed payments in the past year due to unexpected expenses, income loss, or economic weakness.
