Thailand's government launched the TH-AI Passport on 19 August 2026, a 1.6 billion baht initiative to upskill citizens in AI through a free platform with chat, image, and video generation tools. However, critical concerns emerged: the free tier uses outdated Gemini Flash models (inferior to market-standard free alternatives like ChatGPT), creator-level AI models are 1–2 versions behind current releases (e.g., Claude Opus 4.8 vs. 5.0), daily credit quotas (10,000/day) limit realistic usage to 20–50 messages per user, and terms-of-service clauses raise data privacy and digital sovereignty red flags by allowing offshore processing. The projected 600 baht/month savings target appears unrealistic given model quality and functionality constraints.
