Thailand's Cabinet committee has approved a unified public transport fare system launching January 1, 2027, capping electric train journeys across all Bangkok/metro lines at 45 baht maximum with no duplicate entry fees. Passengers will pay actual fare using EMV contactless cards, with government refunding overage within 3 business days via the "Pao Tang" app. Green and Gold lines will transition to the State Railway's management. This policy aims to reduce commuting costs and boost public transit adoption for all Thai nationals.
