Thailand's Egat has launched a five-phase roadmap to deploy small modular reactors (SMRs), with the first 300-MW unit targeting commercial operation by 2037. This strategic energy initiative supports Thailand's net-zero transition, carbon-free power generation, and industrial growth. Egat is already reviewing leading SMR technologies from the US, China, Russia, and Canada, with cabinet approval pending for procurement. Success depends on establishing a nuclear energy implementation body and securing community acceptance.
