Thailand's cabinet has approved a national disaster insurance scheme covering 30 million households against floods, windstorms, and earthquakes. The state will subsidize premiums, with payouts capped at 100,000 baht per household for property damage and 2 million baht for death. This shifts disaster management from reactive relief to proactive risk management, accelerating compensation and improving budget planning for SMEs and citizens affected by natural disasters.
