Thailand is restructuring its energy infrastructure to reduce dependency on imported oil and natural gas and accelerate the clean energy transition. The new Power Development Plan (PDP2026) targets at least 65% clean energy by expanding direct power purchase agreements (Direct PPA) beyond data centers to all industries, while maintaining natural gas as a firm baseload (~11%) and reserving 24% for flexible transition pathways. This shift is critical for Thai manufacturers to meet global carbon standards (CBAM, NDC 3.0) and maintain export competitiveness as data centers and AI demand continuous power supply.
