Thailand's Cabinet approved moving the 2029 International Horticultural Expo from Khong to Pak Chong district in Nakhon Ratchasima, based on feasibility studies showing lower costs and better infrastructure fit. The 4.28 billion baht project now uses existing government research land, eliminating need for additional land acquisition. Master and Legacy Plans will be accelerated to meet international certification deadlines (September 4, 2026 for AIPH approval; October 6, 2026 for BIE approval) ahead of the November 10, 2029 opening. The original Khong site will be repurposed for community development with local stakeholder engagement.
