Thailand's shrimp industry faces a critical crisis, falling from global rank 1 to rank 7 with production at only 270,000-280,000 tonnes/year due to persistent disease outbreaks and rising production costs over the past decade. The Thai Shrimp Association met with Deputy PM Yasothorn to request urgent government support through science-based solutions: developing disease-resistant breeding lines, optimizing feed and energy use, and establishing a "Hub of Knowledge" to transfer research directly to farms so farmers can increase yields and competitiveness.
