Thailand's Commerce Ministry is accelerating government-to-government rice sales negotiations with China, pushing to finalize 60,000 additional tonnes on top of a 500,000-tonne state contract. The Cabinet approved expanding the deal by 220,000 tonnes beyond existing commitments. Success here would absorb domestic surplus, boost farmer prices, and help achieve Thailand's 7-million-tonne annual export target by year-end.
