Thailand's government plans to restructure regional administration via a "One Province, One Office" model to eliminate the ~80% functional redundancy in provincial agencies. By consolidating overlapping units under provincial governors' direct control, consolidating staff through early retirement and not replacing retirees, and deploying digital/AI tools, the administration aims to reduce personnel costs and improve coordination. The Commerce Ministry has piloted this, reducing 10 separate departments to a single 2–3-person provincial commerce office with multi-skilled staff.
