Thailand's central bank (BOT) has announced a framework bringing together 11 financial and non-bank industry associations to prevent illicit transactions, money laundering, online gambling, and corruption. New controls include cash withdrawal reporting at 5 million baht, gold bullion transaction tracking (2kg+), FX purchase caps (800k baht/day), enhanced KYC/CDD procedures, and anomaly detection systems. Early results show 70% reduction in high-value gold trades and 60% reduction in large cash withdrawals, signaling increased financial sector compliance and transparency.
