Thailand's Big Data Institute (BDI) has launched a mandate requiring 118 datasets on disaster management to be connected to a central "National Data Backbone" platform (D2) within 60 days under a new regulation that took effect 5 September 2026. The initiative aims to enable real-time sharing of weather, infrastructure, health, and population data across government agencies, improving emergency response and decision-making. State agencies can begin connecting systems immediately or coordinate with BDI within 15 days if they need technical readiness support.
