Cara, a social image platform founded by Jingna Zhang with anti-AI policies to block AI-generated content and prevent data scraping, has suffered a major breach: someone successfully scraped over 12 million images (12TB+) using AI bots for ~$10. Founder Zhang argues that platform-level protections cannot withstand increasingly sophisticated AI scraping, and calls for stronger government regulation and industry accountability rather than pushing all responsibility onto platform creators.
