The government's "Thailand Helps Thailand Plus 60/40" cash-transfer program has circulated 864.4 billion baht in its first two months (ending 31 July 2026), reaching 26 million participants and 1.19 million merchants. The 60/40 cost-sharing scheme (state 60%, citizens 40%) targets food, beverages, goods, and services up to 200 baht/day per person. Over 96% of spending occurs at physical merchants; 18.1% of participating merchants are newly registered SMEs getting digital payment access via the "Tung Ngoen" app, which also provides AI-driven business analytics. The program aims to stimulate grassroots consumption and onboard informal traders into digital commerce through September 2026.
