The Bank of Thailand is soliciting public input on tightened anti-money-laundering regulations requiring financial institutions to verify customer identity and conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) on all cash deposits, exchanges, and related transactions of 5 million baht or more within a single day. Banks must now analyze customer behavior, flag suspicious activity, prioritize electronic alternatives to cash, and implement continuous transaction monitoring—aiming to prevent financial system misuse for illegal activity and boost deposit protection and system confidence.
