Google Translate has expanded its Live Translate real-time translation feature (launched June, supports 70+ languages) with two key updates: Android users can now translate audio in the background while multitasking, and iOS users can now listen to translations through the phone's speaker instead of just headphones. Background translation is particularly valuable as one-third of users translate audio longer than 5 minutes. iOS will receive background capability soon.
