Thailand's National Water Resources Office (NWRO) issued alert no. 2/2569 warning that Mekong River levels across 8 provinces will rise 2.0–4.8 metres between Aug 31 and Sep 6, with heavy rainfall and water discharge from Xayaburi dam reaching ~18,000 m³/s. Four lower-lying provinces—Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan—face critical flood risk; Bueng Kan station alone expected to exceed crisis level by 1.22 metres on Sep 5. All agencies and residents in flood-prone districts must prepare emergency response and monitor conditions closely.
