Thailand opens the Bang Khun Thian–Ban Phaew section (M82) of the elevated Rama II motorway on 28 August 2026 at 10 AM, free until 2027. The 25 km stretch closes a notorious congestion chapter and improves transport to the South, though connection to the Rama III expressway is delayed to year-end 2026. Load testing passed structural safety standards using modern engineering methods. Speed limits: 80 km/h for cars, 65 km/h for trucks; motorcycles and pedestrians not permitted. Full toll collection begins 2027.
