Thailand's Small and Medium Enterprise Development Board (SMDC/บสย.) launched "Nano Plus," a new credit guarantee program extending to non-bank financial institutions and virtual banks for the first time. The program targets over 100,000 micro SMEs, street vendors, and freelancers with loans of 5,000–50,000 baht per person, 4-year terms, and zero guarantee fees. This addresses critical liquidity challenges facing Thailand's smallest businesses, especially those shut out of the formal banking system due to incomplete financial records and perceived high risk. The 2-billion-baht initiative, backed by policy support from the Deputy PM, aims to unlock capital access for vulnerable business groups while strengthening lender confidence in underserved segments.
